More quick links: Benjamin Rosenbaum runs a statistical analysis of characters in his short story collection, which results in a number of insights, including some self-identified instances of fail—and, importantly, patterns of when they're likely to occur.

N. K. Jemisin gives examples of describing characters of color from her writing. (Related: zvi posts "This is why your tales ring false: skin color comparison".)

Thank you! I'm going to have to bookmark Ben and Jemisin's posts for later, but they look good, and the Zvi post was fascinating.

You're welcome! I thought they were really interesting, particularly as examples for other writers of useful self-analysis.
